Swimmers win 10 of 18 events

On the first day of the Dalhousie Invitational Swim meet, the host Tigers won 10 of the 18 events on the schedule.

Isabel Sarty led the way for the Tigers for the women, winning both the 500m butterfly and 100m backstroke events in addition to anchoring their 400m medley relay win. Tyler Immel-Herron won two events for the Tigers, touching the wall first in the 200m and 1500m freestyle events. Other event winners included Alec Karlsen (200m IM), Claire Yurkovich (200m freestyle), Halle Loyek (50m freestyle), Mackenzie Holden (200m butterfly) and Meg MacKay (800m freestyle). Yurkovich, Alexis Bragman, Lise Cinq-Mars and Sarty teamed up to win the 400m medley relay.

Jasmine Foran had two wins for Memorial, winning the 200m IM and 100m breaststroke. Sam Leawood (50m butterfly), Ryan George (100m backstroke) and Allison Somers (200m butterfly) also won events for the Sea-Hawks.

Acadia's Benjamin Henger, Adam Deutsch, Patrick Henger and Brett Liem won the men's 400m medley relay. Deutsch also won the 100m breaststroke.

Geraint Berger was the lone event winner for Mount Allison, placing first in the 50m freestyle.

At the end of day one, Dalhousie is leading both the men's and women's team standings. The meet continues tomorrow at 10:00am at Dalplex.
