Ota reaches coaching milestone

Currently in his 19th season as head coach of the Tigers men's volleyball team, Dan Ota started the 2017-18 season with an overall win-loss record of 394-176 and a regular season 248-51 record. The Tigers have eight wins (five exhibition and three regular season) bringing his overall career wins to 401.

Before assuming the reigns as head coach, Ota spent six seasons as an assistant coach under Hall of Fame coach Al Scott.

Coach Ota is a 15-time recipient of the AUS Coach of the Year award and was Dalhousie’s Coach of the Year in 2014-15 and 2007-08. He is a former Executive Director for Volleyball Nova Scotia as well as a former Technical Director for Alberta Volleyball. He is a certified NCCP Level 3 coach and Master Learning Facilitator. He obtained a Master of Kinesiology (Art and Science of Coaching) degree from the University of Calgary. A native of Calgary, AB, Ota has lived in Halifax for over 25 years.
