This week’s flashback Friday goes to the AUS Champion 2009-10 men’s volleyball team

The 2009-10 men’s volleyball team entered the season exuding confidence returning six of seven starters from the previous year including two members of the national team. With league play beginning in November, the Tigers knew a fast start was needed, and they did not disappoint, posting an unblemished record of 4-0 against Atlantic opponents at the halfway point of the season.

Continuing off their momentum from the first half of the season, the Tigers battled to a 16-2 record and easily qualified for the AUS playoffs. Thanks to a great performance from Sander Ratsep, who wasthe conference and championship MVP, the Tigers easily downed UNB in a best of three final to win the AUS championship. With a 24th consecutive AUS title, the team travelled to the national championship in Kamloops, BC, where unfortunately they would fall to eventual champion Calgary in a thrilling five set match.

The 2017-18 men’s team takes on the University of Saskatchewan Huskies this weekend at the Dalplex.
