Dalhousie University men’s volleyball coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the addition of Andrew Arseneau to the 2018-19 lineup.
Arseneau comes to the Tigers with a wealth of provincial, club and high school volleyball experience.
A 6’3 outside hitter, Arseneau has been a member of Nova Scotia’s provincial team program since 2015. In that time, he helped Team NS to an eighth-place finish at the Canada Games last summer following back-to-back first-place finishes at the Eastern Elite Volleyball Championships in both the 2016 and 2015 seasons.
Arseneau started his club volleyball career with the Dartmouth Volleyball Club before joining the Tigers Volleyball Club for the 2017-18 campaign. He helped them to a second-place finish at the provincial championships in the spring.
He played his high school volleyball with École du Carrefour, leading them to a second-place finish at the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation (NSSAF) provincial championships this year. He was named the school’s male athlete of the year in both grade 11 and 12 and was the rookie of the year in grade 10.
"I feel extremely blessed to be able to play volleyball at the university level,” says Arseneau. “It’s an amazing opportunity and I’m very excited to be able to play the sport I love in my home town.”
The Dartmouth, N.S. native recently graduated from École du Carrefour and is enrolled in Dalhousie’s engineering program.
“I’ve had the opportunity to track Andrew’s development for the past few years through our provincial team program,” says Ota. “He made dramatic improvements in his game after he joined our Tigers Club this year and I think his drive and capacity for continued growth is what sets him apart from others in this year’s graduating class. If he continues to improve at this rate, he may become a real impact player for our program.”
The Tigers will begin their first season as members of the Quebec Student Sport Federation (RSEQ) at UNB October 20, 2018. They will play host to l’université de Montréal November 2 for their first match at home.
