Drapeau to join Tigers in 2017-18 season

(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Justin Drapeau to the 2017-18 lineup.

A 6’4 outside hitter, Drapeau comes to the Tigers with succesful club and provincial team careers.

A member of the Riverview High School Varsity Royals since 2015, Drapeau has been an intergral part of the team, winning MVP honours in 2016.

Drapeau plays his club volleyball with the Moncton U18 Fuzion Club. While with Fuzion, Drapeau helped lead them to a 2016 provincial silver medal while also being named to the provincial championship all-star team for his efforts.

The Riverview, N.B., native is currently a member of the New Brunswick Canada Games core team and hopes to be competing in the national event this August in Winnipeg, M.B.

“I am very excited to be joining the Tigers family under coach Dan Ota,” says Drapeau. “Being relatively new to the game, I never thought I would have the opportunity to play at such a great school like Dalhousie. I am looking forward to growing as a player with the Tigers.”

Drapeau will graduate from Riverview High School this June and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in neuroscience.

“I see Justin having a high ceiling in our sport,” says Ota. “He has improved immensely in the brief time he has played competitive volleyball for the Fuzion Club in Moncton. He has the physical potential to be a high-level U SSPORTS student-athlete and is coming to a Dalhousie program that has a proven track record of developing talent. If Justin applies a growth mindset to compliment his physical tools, I am confident that he will be a tremendous asset for our program as he develops with the rest of our talented young core.”

The Dalhousie Tigers men’s volleyball team ended the regular season in first palce with a record of 11-6.
