Volleyball Tigers bolster 2015-16 line up

Dalhousie University men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Christian Fricke to the Tigers 2015-16 lineup.

Christian Fricke joins the Tigers lineup after a year with the Ottawa Fusion Volleyball Club and a successful four-year stint with the Celtique de Montreal Volleyball Club. Fricke helped lead the U18 Celtique to a provincial championship in 2013 and a bronze medal showing in 2014.

In 2013, Fricke helped lead his Alexander von Humboldt International German School volleyball team to a provincial division II gold medal.

A 6’3” left side player, he grabbed fourth place at Volleyball Canada’s 2014 U18 Eastern Beach Nationals.

“Christian has a good background in the beach game, so he has solid ball control skills as well as a strong tactical awareness of the game,” says Ota. “Watching him play, I’m impressed with the consistency in his game, which indicates a maturity that I don’t normally see in high school athletes. I think that he will be able to make the transition to the CIS level quite smoothly.”

The Montreal, Que. Native is enrolled in Dalhousie’s civil engineering program.

“I am thrilled and excited to start the season,” says Fricke. “I hope to bring as much as I can to the team.”

The Tigers will be looking for their third consecutive (37th overall) AUS title and kick off the regular season October 23 when they host the first of three AUS-RSEQ interlocks at Dalplex.
