Dalhousie University men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Matthew Woods to the Tigers 2015-16 roster.

As captain of the Citadel High School volleyball team, Woods led the team to a provincial championship in 2014 and a regional championship in 2013.

A 6’6 middle, Woods was a member of the 2013 Nova Scotia Canada Games volleyball team and has played provincial volleyball since then. A member of the Tigers Volleyball Club, Woods helped lead them to a provincial championship in 2013.

“I am very honoured to be a Tiger next year,” says Woods. “Growing up and playing volleyball in the Tigers club program and getting to know the varsity coaches and players, really inspired me to play at the next level. I look forward to the upcoming season with the Tigers this fall.”

An honours student all three years at Citadel High, Woods will graduate this June and will pursue a Bachelor of Commerce in Dalhousie’s Rowe School of Business.

"Matt is a great local prospect from the Halifax area, and has the physical tools to be an impact player at the CIS level," says Coach Ota. He is a product of the Tigers Volleyball Club that has produced five current starters on our team, so he will be attempting to follow in some lofty footsteps when he joins our program in the fall. Like his Tigers predecessors, Matt has many areas to improve in. Fortunately we have an excellent track record of developing our young players and I look forward to working with Matt to reach his full potential."
