The contest between these two Halifax schools was a test for each squad as they each looked to claim round one of this storied rivalry.

The Tigers opened the scoring with a goal by Enrico Rodriguez (Halifax, N.S.) in the fourth minute of play as they seemed to have the better of the Huskies from the opening whistle.  The half continued with both sides having opportunities but keepers of the Huskies Jensen Brown and the Tigers Aiden Rushenas (Toronto, Ont.) who kept their respective opponents at bay.

Saint Mary's Sumit Malik (Dartmouth, N.S.) evened up the first half when he put one past Rushenas in the 45th minute to send the teams into the locker room deadlocked 1-1.
