(Halifax, NS) – In the Dalhousie Tigers final home game of the regular season, they hosted the Mount Allison Mounties for their Senior Day match. The Tigers had an explosive first ten minutes that pushed them to a 3-0 win.

The Tigers got the game started with a furious pace with Jacob Bolton (Halifax, NS) sending a great through-ball ahead for Gracious Kasheke (Halifax, NS) to pick up in stride down the right. Kasheke took a touch, and then hammered a strike to the far side corner to make it 1-0 in the third minute.

The Tigers were able to strike again just minutes later, this time when Kasheke took a touch to force the keeper off his line before he sent a chip pass into the box for Quinn Park (Calgary, AB) to walk the ball into the net to make it 2-0.

Kasheke was close to finding another one after another strong run into the box, but his strike rang off the inside of the post and stayed out.

The Mounties had a few decent runs in the half on the counter, but none of them were able to result in shots on goal. With that, the first half ended with the Tigers holding a 2-0 lead.

Setting up on a long free-kick near the bottom of the center-circle, Emilio Roche (Calgary, AB) put a nice ball into the box that missed everyone and took a high bounce that took keeper Michael Cormier (Margaree Valley, NS) by surprise, but was stopped by the crossbar and stayed out.

The Mounties had their best chance of the match late in the second half when a corner from Alex Bennett (Falmouth, NS) was deflected initially, but left in the box for another Mountie to take a head back at goal that needed to be punched away by Sam Prystupa (Calgary, AB) to keep his clean sheet alive.

The Tigers were able to find an insurance goal in the final two minutes of the match when a flurry of chances in the box led to Freddy Bekkers (Halifax, NS) taking a nice strike that was stopped by Cormier, but the rebound was left for Skylar Bryant (Whitehorse, YK) to tap into the open cage to seal the 3-0 win.

Captain Freddy Bekkers was named the Subway Player of the Game in his final home game as a Tiger, picking up an assist in the win.

The Tigers will finish up their regular season schedule with a double-header at Memorial next weekend. Mount Allison will finish their season at UPEI next Saturday.
