Moncton tops Tigers 5-1

MONCTON – Second year player Félix Robichaud scored three goals to lead the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus to a 5-1 win over Dalhousie University Tigers, at Stade Moncton Stadium, on Saturday and qualify his team for the Atlantic University Sport championships, next weekend in Cape Breton. 

The game was critical for the Aigles Bleus because they needed a victory to advance. It was Moncton's third win in a row. The Aigles Bleus (5-7-0=15pts, 6th position) and the Saint Mary's University Huskies were even with 15 points each, but Moncton advances because of the number of wins (5 to 4)Other than the three goals by Félix Robichaud, Felly Elonda scored the other two. Moncton keeper Christian Masimengo made two saves for the win compared to four for his opponent, Ben Grondin. Moncton led 4-1 after the first half. Kallen Heenan had the lone Tigers goal. Cape Breton, St. Francis Xavier, University of New Brunswick, Dalhousie and Acadia are the other five qualifying teams. The last time Moncton was at the AUS was in 2012 as the team had finished in fourth place (6-5-2=20points).
