Tigers defeat X-Men with late goal

ANTIGONISH - Bezick Evraire (Ottawa, ON) scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in the 87th minute, as the visiting Dalhousie Tigers (7-3-3) edged the StFX X-Men (3-7-3) 3-2 in AUS soccer action Saturday afternoon at Oland Stadium.

With the loss the X-Men have been eliminated from AUS playoff contention.

Evraire, the Subway player of the match for the Tigers, opened the scoring in the final minute of the first half.

Junior Trevor Kwan (Calgary, AB) notched the equalizer in the 62nd minute on an assist from X-Men captain Randy Ribeiro (Cambridge, ON).

In the 66th minute, the Tigers regained the lead on a marker from Aaron Hoyle (Bedford, NS).

The X-Men knotted the match in the 79th minute on a goal from Kareem Henry (Mississauga, ON).

The X-Men outshot the Tigers 22-14.

Jason Ross (Bedford, NS) made 10 saves for the victory, while Matthew Lannan (Port Williams, NS) turned aside five shots in the loss.

Joe Ward (Newport, South Wales) earned the player of the game nod for the X-Men.

Both teams will wrap up their regular seasons Sunday, Nov. 1, with the Tigers visiting the Cape Breton University Capers in Sydney, while the X-Men will welcome the rival Saint Mary's Huskies to Oland Stadium.

Opening kick-off for both matches is set for 3:15 p.m.
