(Halifax, NS) - The UNB Reds outscored the Dalhousie Tigers 9-2 on Saturday night at the Halifax Forum in Nova Scotia.

Dalhousie wasted no time finding the back of the net.

Jackson van de Leest (Kelowna BC) found Derek Gentile (Sydney, NS) for a left faceoff dot one timer, but was saved, Dalhousie maintained possession, and the puck came out to point, where Ethan Martini (Trail, BC) wired the puck top shelf past Griffen Outhouse (Williams Lake, BC) with less than two minutes into the game.

After the Reds buried DAL for an entire shift in their own end, the Tigers quickly countered, when Zak Smith (Austin, MB) sprung Gentile for a breakaway and he buried it far side.

UNB answered right back, when second year forward Justin Notel (Mississauga, ON) lasered the puck top corner past Nicholas Chenard (Tecumseh, ON) from the high slot.

The Reds continued to apply pressure, and it resulted in a powerplay half way through the period, but they were unable to tie the game.

They were able to tie it a few moments later, when from the point, Colton Kammerer (Brooklin, ON) found Brady Gilmour (Grafton, ON) unguarded in front of Chenard, and he buried it.

UNB continued to pile the goals on when Cody Morgan (Gilford, ON) set Isaac Nurse (Hamilton, ON) on a breakaway, and after his first shot was saved, he scored on the rebound.

The Reds went on the powerplay with just under two minutes remaining, and Kale McCallum (Rothesay, NB), fed Austen Keating (Guelph, ON) cross crease who tapped in a powerplay marker.

UNB went to the dressing room after a busy six goal period up 4-2.

The scoring did not sputter as within three minutes, Camaryn Baber (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) found Macauley Carson (Midhurst, ON) who wired the puck past Chenard from the slot.

Just before the 15 minute mark Kade Landry (Gowanstown, ON) found a speeding Cole MacKay (Sault Ste. Marie) who split the Dalhousie defence, went in and scored to end Chenard's night.

Gilmour added his second of the night to make it seven unanswered goals for the Reds.

McCallum used Alexander MacDonald's (Truro, NS) water bottle for targeting practice, as he sniped his second goal of the game with nine seconds remaining on a short UNB powerplay.

The Reds exited the second period ice up 8-2.

Smith flicked the puck over the head of the defender to send Gentile in on a breakaway, but Outhouse came out of his net-first falling-to make an incredible diving save.

The Reds went on the powerplay again, and after another penalty by the Tigers, had a five on three advantage, and MacKay pounced on a rebound for his second of the night.

That was the final goal between the teams, and the UNB Reds exited Halifax with a 9-2 win.

Gilmour took home player of the game for the Reds off of his two goals.

This was both teams last games before winter break.

Dalhousie will return to action on January 5 versus Moncton, and the Reds will face STFX on the same day.
