Hockey Tigers win game 1 of quarter-final series

The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Moncton Aigles Bleus 4-3 in game one of the quarter-final round of the 2022 Subway AUS Men's Hockey Championship.

The Aigles Bleus opened the scoring in the first period with Gabriel Vanier (Boisbriand, Q.C.) finding the back of the net at 13:41. Samuel Guilbault (Varennes, Q.C.) and Alexis Arsenault (Bonaventure, Q.C.) got the assists.

Logan O'Neil (Sydney, N.S.) responded for the Tigers less than four minutes later to even it up to one goal apiece. Nick Pryce (Toronto, Ont.) earned the assist.

Dalhousie went up 2-1 minutes later with Matt Green (Hammonds Plains, N.S.) putting the puck past Moncton goaltender Étienne Montpetit (Valleyfield, Q.C.). Shaun Miller (Enfield, N.S.) and Aiden Jamieson Lindsay, Ont.) were credited with the assists.

Moncton's Remy Anglehart (Gascon, Q.C.) tied things up with just 14 seconds left in the opening frame. Edouard St-Laurent (Lévis, Q.C.) and Olivier-Luc Haché (Savoie Landing, Q.C.) got the assists.

Shots were 13-11 in favor of Moncton.

Connor Welsh (Halifax, N.S.) got the scoring started early for the Tigers less than five minutes into the second period to go up 3-2. Miller followed suit three minutes later with Welsh getting his second point of the night with the assist.

Moncton responded with a short-handed goal after Dalhousie's Jarrett Baker (Black Rock, N.S.) was sent off for checking from behind. Nathael Roy (Lévis, Q.C.) put the puck past Reilly Pickard (Halifax, N.S.) St-Laurent and Denis Toner (Saint-André, N.B.) got the assists.

The Tigers headed into the second intermission up 4-3.

Both teams came out flying in third, but neither could add another goal to the scoresheet giving Dalhousie the 4-3 win.

Subway Player of the Game honours went to Shaun Miller for Dalhousie and Edouard St-Laurent from Moncton.

Montpetit made 29 saves for Moncton while Pickard turned away 26 shots for Dalhousie.

Both teams face off in game two of the best-of-three series Sunday night in Moncton. The puck drops at 7pm.
