Tigers add Peyton for 2021-22 season

Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Liam Peyton for the 2021-22 season.

A left winger from Orleans, Ontario, Peyton has played 200 games in the last four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He was an assistant captain with the Halifax Mooseheads this year, tallying five goals and 12 assists in their 43-game season. Before the Mooseheads, Peyton suited up for the Charlottetown Islanders for three seasons. He scored 22 goals, with 17 helpers and amassed 137 penalty minutes in 157 games with the Islanders.

Named Charlottetown’s hardest working player in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons and the January 2018 QMJHL Scholastic Player of the Month, Peyton is currently nominated for the QMJHL Humanitarian of the Year award for the 2020-21 season.

“I am very excited to be attending a very reputable and special university for the next chapter of my hockey career,” says Peyton. “Dalhousie has always been of interest to me, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to pursue my education as well as my athletics here. Halifax has quickly become home for me and I am very grateful to stay in the Maritimes for the coming years.”

Peyton has been accepted to Dalhousie’s psychology program, with plans to move into the Faculty of Architecture and Planning in the future.

“Liam brings a tremendous work ethic and speed that makes him a very difficult person to play against,” says Donnelly. “We believe he has an untapped offensive side to his game and look forward to working with him to develop it.  Liam is a great student and a very community-minded member of the Halifax Mooseheads. Our dressing room is excited to be adding such a character person.”
