Tigers add Kielb for 2020-21 season

Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Darien Kielb for the 2020-21 season.

A native of Hamilton, Ont., Kielb played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The Quebec Remparts’ defensive player of the month for October 2019, he had his best season to date this year, recording a team-leading 36 assists in his 64 games played. He also had nine goals for a total of 45 points.

The 6’3 defenceman started and ended his four-year major junior career with the Remparts, playing his second and third seasons with the Gatineau Olympiques.

“I am very excited to continue my academic and athletic journey as a Tiger,” says Kielb. “I have only heard good things about Halifax and Dalhousie. I cannot wait to wear the black and gold and become a part of this amazing Tigers program.”

Kielb will be studying management while attending Dalhousie.

“Darien brings a high-level of skill, competitiveness and leadership to our program,” says Donnelly. “He is an offensively gifted defenceman who finished sixth amongst all defencemen in scoring in the QMJHL. He was an assistant captain this year under head coach Patrick Roy.”

The Tigers finished outside of a playoff spot this year, ending the season with an 8-22 record.
