Tigers take 3-2 OT win over Moncton

A power play goal at 2:54 of the overtime period by Connor Welsh lifted the visiting Dalhousie University Tigers (2-4-1=5pts, 5th position) to a 3-2 win over Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (1-3-2=4pts, 6th position) in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game Friday evening in front of over 550 spectators at the J.-Louis-Lévesque  Arena.

The Blue and Gold will host the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men (3-1-1=7pts, 4th position), tonight (Saturday), at 7p.m.

Aiden Jamieson, on another power play at the beginning of the third period, with a two-man advantage, had evened the score at 2-2 for the Tigers to send the game in overtime. Cameron Thompson registered his team's first goal, early in the second period following a scoreless first. Olivier Desjardins (unassisted) at 4:04 and Ryan Chiasson (Alexandre Jacob, Vincent Lanoue) following a rush by the boards and a precise shot at 11:14, replied for the local team. Étienne Montpetit faced 32 shots on goal for the loss while Reilly Pickard had 30 in the win. The Tigers were 2 for 4 on the power play and Moncton, 0 for 1.
