(Halifax, NS) On Saturday night at the Halifax Forum the Dalhousie Tigers recorded their first win of 2016, beating the UPEI Panthers 4-1 in AUS men's hockey action. Phil Gadoury recorded his third hat trick of the season for the Tigers in the winning effort.

The first period went scoreless as neither team could generate much offence.

Gadoury got things going for the Tigers halfway through the second period scoring on the power play. On what looked like an innocent play, Gadoury wristed a shot from a bad angle and managed to beat Matt Mahalak top shelf.

Dalhousie held a 1-0 lead after two periods of play.

Mike Evelyn scored just 21 seconds into the third period to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Tanner Williams fed Evelyn who walked in and ripped a shot to the back of the net.

Gadoury got his second of the night just five minutes after the Evelyn tally. Andrew Wigginton made a beautiful pass to Gadoury who released a blast of a one timer beating Mahalak.

Brock Beukeboom managed to get the Panthers on the board and spoil Corbin Boes shutout bid with 2:45 remaining in the third period.

Gadoury completed the hat trick scoring on an empty net in the final minute of play.

Boes was sensational once again for Dalhousie recording 45 saves on the night.

Dalhousie (5-11-3) will host the Acadia Axemen (15-2-2) on Tuesday, January 19th at the Halifax Forum while the Panthers (9-8-2) will be back in action on Friday, January 22nd against Acadia.
