The UPEI Panthers redeemed themselves in overtime Saturday night, after coming up just short a night before.

With 1:14 remaining in the extra frame, captain Mason Wilgosh, in front of 1,700 fans, took a pass from Chad Labelle and one-timed it past Corbin Boes for his sixth of the season, giving his Panthers a 2-1 win over the Dalhousie Tigers.

Goals were hard to come by for both teams, as both netminders were stellar between the pipes. Matt Mahalak made 19 saves to nab the win, while Boes countered with 37 in the loss.

At 11:36 in the first period, Andrew Wigginton scored his second of the season from a scramble in front of the net, giving Dalhousie the one-goal edge.

UPEI's pressure on the offensive end paid off at 7:15 in the second period, when a Ryan MacKinnon wrister from the blueline slipped through the legs of Boes, tying the game at one apiece.

After trading shots for most the third quarter, Wilgosh, the man credited for Friday's comeback bid, didn't disappoint and scored the game-winner in the extra frame.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 9-6-2, while the Tigers fall to 4-10-3.

The Panthers hit the road for four games, starting in Halifax against the second place StFX X-Men on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. The Tigers host UNB on Friday night.
