Panthers Defeat Tigers 4-1

Charlottetown, PE - It was a special Home Opening night for the Panthers as they handed the Dalhousie Tigers a 4-1 loss in front of 873 fans.

Subway Player of the Game UPEI Captain Mason Wilgosh led the way with a hat trick.

Wilgosh opened the scoring late in the first period with assists going to Chad Labelle and Marcus Power.  In the second period the teams exchanged goals with Wilgosh scoring short handed from Labelle and Casey Babineau and Dalhousie's Fabian Walsh scoring on the power play with assists going to Andrew Rieder and Daniel Walsh.

Mid-way through the third Wilgosh put the Panthers up 3-1 with Babineau and Brock Beukeboom and then Carter Rigby scored shortly after to put the Panthers up 4-1 with Darcy Ashley and Brent Andrews earning assists.

Mason Wilgosh was selected Subway player of the game.

Mavric Parks made 20 saves for the win, while Corbin Boes turned aside 29 saves in the loss

The Panthers return to action tomorrow night (Saturday, October 17) when they host the StFX X-Mens, game time 7:00 pm.

The Tigers are back on the ice tomorrow (Saturday, October 17), when they visit Fredericton, NB, to face the UNB Reds.  Puck drop is 7:00 pm.
