The St. Francis Xavier X-Men and the Dalhousie Tigers squared off at the Halifax Forum on Saturday night with the X-Men coming out on top by a score of 4-2.

The Tigers got on the board early on goal from JP Harvey who chipped the puck past Drew Owsley giving the Tigers the first lead of the game.

Dalhousie extended the lead to two halfway through the first period. Fabian Walsh utilized his speed out skating two X-Men in a puck chase springing Dalhousie on a 2-on-1. Walsh kept the puck and went short side on Owsley giving the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.

The X-Men could not stay out of the box in the first period racking up 18 penalty minutes in the frame. StFX relied heavily on the strength of their special teams to keep them in game as they spent majority of the period backed up in their own end.

The Tigers went into the dressing room after 20 minutes up 2-0.

After a Tanner Williams penalty, StFX scored a textbook power play goal spreading out the Dalhousie defense with one touch passes. Jagger Dirk found Blake Gal sitting on the doorstep with a cross crease pass for a tap in goal.

Halfway through the second period the X-Men tied it up on a goal from Jagger Dirk. The puck popped out to Dirk sitting at the top of the circle after a frantic battle in front of goalie Corbin Boes. Dirk wristed one through the pile of bodies in front of the net beating Boes top left.

After 40 minutes the two teams were all tied up at two.

Zackary MacQueen gave the X-Men their first lead of the game six minutes into the 3rd period. After a Dalhousie give away in there own end MacQueen broke in on Boes and beat him with a forehand-backhand deke.

The X-Men put the Tigers away scoring with 3 minutes left in the game making it 4-2. Blake Gal ripped a one-timer from the top of the circle that hit Boes' glove and trickled over the goal line.

The Tigers (4-11-1) and the X-Men (10-5-1) both wrapped up the first half of their campaigns and will be back on the ice on January 3rd
