Tigers fall 6-0 to Varsity Reds

The UNB Varsity Reds cruised to a 6-0 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers at the Halifax Forum on Saturday night. The Varsity Reds' line of Tyler Carroll, Cam Braes and Philippe Maillet was unstoppable accounting for four of the teams six goals.

UNB capitalized on their first power play of the game when Braes hit Cameron Brace streaking in on a back door pass. Shortly after, Rob Mignardi walked in from the blue line and ripped a short-handed goal over the shoulder of Wendell Vye giving UNB an early 2-0 lead.
Wendall Vye made 38 saves on the night including an incredible diving paddle save in the first period, keeping the deficit at two. The Tigers played majority of the period in their own end surrendering a third goal late in the first, on a give and go between Tyler Carroll and Cam Braes .
Dalhousie found some legs in the second period testing the UNB goalie Chris Carrozzi, but couldn't solve him. Jordan Murray put the Varsity Reds up 4-0 in the first minute of the second period on a low point shot barely beating Vye. The lead would be extended to 6-0 by the end of the second period with goals coming from Francis Beauvillier and Cameron Brace.
The Tigers tightened up defensively in the third period holding UNB off the scoreboard.
The Varsity Reds (6-2) travel to Moncton next Friday to take on UdeM (5-2).
The Tigers (2-6) play the Saint Mary's Huskies (6-1) on Wednesday night at the Forum.
