Carson breaks Dal record in 113-73 win against UPEI

(Halifax, NS) – The Dalhousie Tigers topped the UPEI Panthers 113-73 in the first of their back to back games this weekend.

Emmanuel Ndatuje (Ottawa, ON) of the Panthers got his team off to an early lead by sinking a three and putting up two. Unable to capitalize on any chances and being down seven, the Tigers took an early timeout.

It was a full three minutes into the game before Keevan Veinot (Port Williams, NS) got Dalhousie on the board. With new found vigor the Tigers began closing the gap. It seemed as though the Panthers would hold onto their lead the whole quarter but with less than ten seconds Shamar Burrows (St. Caherine, ON) tied it up and took the lead for the Tigers on a foul, making it 24-22.

The Tigers went to work in the second quarter keeping the Panthers on the outside and forcing them to make bad passes. It was all Dalhousie as they went on an 11-point run that was ended by a three from UPEI's Elijah Miller (Etobicoke, ON).

Ending their run marked no change in the game as Dalhousie immediately had another run and finished the half 52-32.

The Tigers upped the intensity in the second half. Under this mounting pressure the Panthers had several fouls and turnovers. Heading into the final quarter Dalhousie led 81-54.

The Panthers were the first to score in the fourth but the Tigers were thirsty for triple digits. That thirst was quenched by Adam Sellan (Toronto, ON) driving to the inside and feeding Samuel Wade (Wallace, NS).

Dalhousie closed out the game with a 113-73 win.

Alex Carson (Lower Sackville, NS) had a game high 23 points and set a new Dalhousie record for the most career threes earning himself the Subway player of the game title.

The Tigers will host the Panthers tomorrow for their final regular season home game.
