(FREDERICTON, NB) Ibrahima Doumbouya (Calgary, AB) had 23 points and six rebounds as the UNB Reds beat the Dalhousie Tigers 92-75 on Saturday afternoon.

"The goal was to win against them because last year we didn't win a single game against them and this year we wanted to make a change," said Doumbouya.

Doumbouya was named Subway Player of the Game.

The Reds improve to 3-1 while the Tigers drop to 2-2

Jesse Kendall (Guelph, ON) had 16 points and two rebounds for the Reds.

Alex Carson (Lower Sackville, NS) led the Tigers with 23 points and four rebounds.

The Reds trailed by a large margin early in the first quarter, but closed the gap to head into the second down 24-20.

UNB would maintain that momentum and headed to halftime down by just one, 47-46.

The Reds pulled ahead in the third quarter, making a handful of three-point shots to take a 73-61 lead.

In the fourth, UNB would continue their success from long range and shut down Dalhousie's offence to pick up the win.

"We have a really good team and I think we can go really far this year, we just have to play together," said Doumbouya.

The Reds next action is Friday, at Cape Breton. Game time is 8:00pm.

The Tigers return home to host St FX on Wednesday.
