Freshman Jack MacAulay hit the biggest shot of his young career Friday night at the Sullivan Fieldhouse, burying a three-pointer from the deep corner as time expired to give the hometown Cape Breton Capers an 85-84 overtime victory over the Dalhousie Tigers.

The victory improved the Capers to 9-10 on the season and secured them the sixth and final playoff spot in the AUS men's basketball conference.

MacAulay finished with 12 points off the bench for the Capers.

Meshack Lufile with 22 points and nine rebounds and Kenny Jean-Louis, who sent the game into overtime with a buzzer beating three-pointer of his own at the end of regulation, with 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists were the tops offensively for CBU.

Kashrell Lawrence had a game high 30 points for the Tigers, who fell to 13-7 overall.

Sven Stammberger chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds for Dalhousie while Ritchie Kanza Mata had 12 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in a losing cause.

The Capers will wrap up the regular season Saturday when they meet the Saint Mary's Huskies in an 8 p.m. start in Sydney.

The Tigers have secured first place in AUS standings and will play at 6:30 p.m. next Saturday at Scotiaank Centre in the Subway AUS Championship.
