Tigers take 83-70 win over Warriors

On Friday, October 9, Dalhousie's men's basketball team travelled to Waterloo, ON to take on the Warriors in pre-season action. With 60 supporters in attendance, the Tigers came out with an 83-70 win against the home team.

By the end of the first period, the Waterloo Warriors held a weak lead by just one point over the Dalhousie Tigers at a score of 17-16. The Tigers came back in the second period which came to a close at 15-12 for Dalhousie over Waterloo.

Dalhousie finished the first half with a 39.4% Field goal percentage, a 16.7% 3 pointer field goal percentage, and a 100% free throw percentage. As for the Warriors, they had a 37.5% FG percentage, a 41.7% 3FG percentage, and a 54.5 FT percentage for the first half.

In the third period, Dalhousie came out with a slightly stronger lead at a score of 31-26 leading into the final period which finished with a score of 21-15 to the Tigers. This brought the final score to 83-70 for Dalhousie over Waterloo.

In the game overall, Waterloo held a FG% at 32.8, 3FG% at 32.0, and FT% at 64.7. Meanwhile, the Tigers held a FG% at 45.7, 3FG% at 27.3, and FT% at 66.7.

The Warrior's Mike Pereira (Kitchener, ON) held the most points for Waterloo and of the game with 20 total points in 37 minutes of play. On Dalhousie's side, Ritchie Kanza Mata (Toronto, ON) had 14 total points in 27 minutes of play.

Dalhousie's next game will be on Friday, October 16 in exhibition play against StFX in Antigonish, NS. The Warriors will play again on Friday October 16 in an exhibition game at Ste-Foy, QC.
