TD Bank Group Back for Women In Leadership Dinner

(Halifax, N.S.) –The Dalhousie Tigers women's basketball and volleyball teams are pleased to announce that TD Bank Group is back as a major partner for the seventh annual TD Women in Leadership Spotlight Dinner on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

TD is committed to many great initiatives including women in leadership through community giving and is back for their fourth year as a presenting partner.

"TD supports various local and national programs and initiatives,” says Tina Murphy, Atlantic Region Manager, Community Banking & Charitable Donations. “Initiatives like the Women in Leadership dinner reinforce our commitment to the environment, education and financial literacy, and create unique opportunities for young people."

This year’s event takes place in the McInnes Room of the Dalhousie Student Union Building beginning at 6pm and will feature a panel discussion with special guest Kim Hilchey Clark, a former women’s volleyball player and members of the women’s basketball and volleyball teams.

A native of Dartmouth, N.S., Clark played on the women’s volleyball team for five seasons (1991-1994 and 1995-96). A two-time AUAA (AUS) first team all-star, she helped lead the Tigers to four AUAA championship titles and received an all-Canadian honourable mention in the 1993-94 season. Clark has a passion for helping youth with mental illness and has spent her career working with children (and their parents) to provide support and guidance to meet the demands of everyday life. She currently works at the IWK with the Children’s Intensive Program.

“I am excited to be able to speak about the many benefits of sport,” says Clark. “It really helped me push through school to become a leader in the field of child and youth care.”

The evening will commence with a pre-dinner reception, followed by dinner and team presentations. A panel discussion will follow with athletes posing questions to our special guest. She will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the athletes.

“We are very excited about this event,” says women’s basketball head coach Anna Stammberger. “It’s a great opportunity for athletes of all ages, parents, our university and surrounding community to hear from the experiences of women who have gone on to be so successful. Kim is an excellent role model for young women. Rick (women’s volleyball head coach) and I are very pleased to be able to showcase the work our athletes are doing both on and off the court.”

Tickets are available for $50 each or a table of 10 for $500 and can be purchased in person at the Dalplex Customer Service Centre by calling 902 494-3372 or online.
