U SPORTS TOP 10 TUESDAY

U SPORTS TOP 10 TUESDAY

As of Tuesday, October 16th, 2018, Dalhousie's women's cross country have been ranked fourth in the nation.

TORONTO  (U SPORTS) - After just one week, the Concordia Stingers are the new team to beat in the nation in women’s hockey.

The Stingers, who find themselves in the pole position for the first time since the program's national championship teams of 1998 and 1999, take over top spot after defending national champion Manitoba (2-2-0) was swept over the weekend by then-ranked No.8 Alberta (3-0-1), in a battle of the last two U SPORTS champions. Concordia drops the puck on its season on Sunday visiting Ottawa.

Meanwhile, the Trinity Western Spartans are back in top spot in women’s soccer after back-to-back home wins over then-No.9 Alberta and Mount Royal. The Spartans (11-1-0) wrap up the regular season this weekend with a road trip to UBC and Victoria.

In other U SPORTS rankings, Guelph (men’s cross country), Queen’s (women’s cross country), UBC (men’s soccer), Ottawa (women’s rugby) and UNB (men’s hockey) remain national leaders for another week.

New this season, U SPORTS is implementing the ELO Rating System for the calculation of its weekly national rankings. Powered by RankR, ELO’s unique algorithm blends a statistical calculation with customized variables that is adaptable across a range of sports.
