(Halifax, N.S) - Dalhousie’s track and field team's head coach Richard Lehman is pleased to announce the addition of hurdler Noah James to the roster this fall.

James, a Windsor N.S. native, is a decorated track athlete with the Valley Athletics Club.

The 2017 Athletics Nova Scotia Youth Male Athlete of the Year, James is the current provincial record holder in the 400m hurdles.

He represented Team Nova Scotia at the 2017 Canada Summer Games and earned fifth-place finishes in both the 400m run and 400m hurdles events at the 2017 Canadian Track and Field Championships.

In addition to his club success, James represented Avonview High School at the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation (NSSAF) provincials last spring, bringing home a gold medal in the 400m event.

An honours student, James will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Dalhousie this coming fall.

“I am thrilled to be coming to study and compete at Dal,” says James. “I can’t wait to see what the next four years will bring.”

James comes from an impressive track lineage. His parents, Ed James and Paula Peters, were both record-holders and award-winning athletes on the track during their time as Dalhousie Tigers. Paula is a nine-time CIAU medalist (including three gold), while Ed was the national champion in the 600m run in the 1992-93 season.

“Noah is one of the best high school 400m runners in Nova Scotia history,” says Coach Lehman. “He has a tremendous amount of raw talent and I believe that he will be one of U SPORTS top 600m runners within a few years. He will also be more than capable of contributing to our relay program from day one. I'm thrilled that he has decided to follow in his parent’s footsteps and compete for the Tigers.”
