This week’s flashback Friday goes to the women’s 2004 cross-country team

The 2004 women’s cross country team entered the season looking to defend their conference title and secure a third consecutive AUS championship. After dominating the top five throughout the season, Dalhousie’s AUS all-stars Janice Ashworth, Hilary Burn, Leanna MacLean, Karen Forward swept the top four with Sophie Williams close behind in .

At the national championship, the Tigers once again proved themselves a threat with their depth, running away with the team title and becoming the 2004 national champions. The Tigers placed five runners inside the top 30, led team MVP Janice Ashworth earning a silver medal with Hilary Burn and Leanna MacLean finishing fifth and seventh respectively.

The Tigers start their cross-country season this weekend in Fredericton and return home to Halifax Saturday September 23rd to race in Point Pleasant Park.
