The 2014-2005 men’s track and field team was once again an unstoppable force in the AUS, winning their eleventh straight conference title. The AUS Championships we’re expected to be a close two-way race. The team that was going to win would be the team that would rise to the occasion; and did they Tigers ever rise. By the end of the first meet it wasn’t even close. The Tigers amassed a 61-point lead, winning the meet by a score of 148-87, claiming gold in 13 of 17 events. Samuel broke seven seconds for the first time taking gold in the 60m and earning a berth at the CIS championships (now U SPORTS). He also surprised in the 300m, winning that event from challenging lane one. Other gold medalist included Chris Goulet, John Corbit, Paul Chafe, Andy Leiper, Cary McNeil, Seth Taylor, AUS Championships MVP Joshua Davidson, and the Dal relay teams.

The CIS Championships were held in at the Max Bell Centre at the University of Manitoba. Chafe, as he had all year, led the Tigers. He broke a close pack of twelve just after the half-way point in 3000m with a major surge. He moved into scoring position and put Dalhousie on the board. Samuel would upset several top seeds in the 60m, earning a seventh-place finish. Other top ten finishes included Joshua Davidson and John Corbit.

At the end of the successful 2004-2005 season the Tigers were rewarded for their hard work. Dan Hennigar was named the AUS Coach of the Year, Paul Chafe was the AUS Male Athlete and Track Athlete of the Year, and Cary McNeil was named the AUS Field Athlete of the Year.

The 2016-17 men’s and women’s track and field teams are currently competing at the U SPORTS Track and Field Championships at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB.
