The Dalhousie Tigers women’s basketball team began the 1999-2000 season with high expectations. Returning Players included conference first team all-stars Angelia Crealock, and fellow third year players Jillian MacDonald and Logan Dunning. Janice King would be the sole fourth year student on the team and Julia Burden was coming off a terrific rookie season. The Tigers would go on to only lose two games in the regular season, finishing with a record of 18-2.

Leading into the AUAA conference playoffs the Tigers had earned themselves a first-round bye due to their terrific regular season play. The Tigers faced off against the Memorial Seahawks in the AUAA championship semifinal. It was not meant to be as the Tigers fell 57-56 after the Seahawks drained a three-pointer with less than 11 seconds remaining in the game. Angelia Crealock was named to the tournament all-star team.

Not surprisingly the individual success the Tigers demonstrated in the regular season earned them a wealth of awards. Angelia Crealock took home AUAA MVP honours at the league banquet and Janice King was named a first team all-star following a tremendous season. The Tigers individual awards didn’t stop at the AUAA level. Angelia Crealock was further recognized as a second team all-Canadian, while Janet Wells, who returned from two separate Achilles tendon tears, was awarded the Tracey McLeod Trophy for the player who overcame the most adversity but competed in the CIAU.
